Home remodeling trends can help inspire the look and feel of your home. While we do always recommend that you lean into your personal style, sometimes you look at your home and know you want to make changes but need inspiration to help you articulate what might work for you. These home remodeling trends were inspired by our recent trip to Las Vegas for the Kitchen & Bath Industry Show (KBIS).

Home Remodeling Trends to Inspire Your Home Remodel

We took 462 photos and videos while attending KBIS. The show is such an amazing opportunity to discover new trends in kitchen and bath design. It’s always fun to bring back the ideas to share with our clients. Here are some of our favorite home remodeling trends from the show.

First Impressions

The first impression someone normally has of your home is your front door. We’ve created custom front doors for clients, but love these new ideas.

Technology has come a long way with doors. You can now choose to make the window in your door opaque with the push of a button to add privacy or block the sun.

Innovative Storage Solutions

No matter which rooms in a home we’re being asked to remodel, one of the main complaints is that there is not enough storage in the current design. Kitchen, bathroom, or bedroom – there is almost always a request for more storage and better use of the space.

We’re excited to be able to implement some of the ideas we saw at the show – from moving closets to hidden glass storage to a hideaway laundry center, there are so many ways to create more storage in your home!

This closet organizer allows you to store more up out of the way, but quickly and easily access the clothing when you need to.

This inset system hides away your laundry when your home doesn’t give you space for a full laundry room.

Woodgrains and the Mocha Mousse Influence

As we touched on previously, woodgrains are really having a comeback. Woodworking Network pointed out that a lot of the wood grains featured at KBIS were taking advantage of  Mocha Mousse. They also noted the international flavor of the cabinet selections:

The biggest trend in cabinets at the show had little to do with the cabinets but more to do with where they were coming from. A host of new companies exhibited cabinets from Vietnam, Malaysia, Thailand, Cambodia, and Ghana. Obviously, these were attempts to offer imported cabinets without tariffs targeted at China, but many skeptics claimed most these newcomers were Chinese-funded or even Chinese-pass-through operations. There were also strong entries from Germany (Nobilia, Hacker). International pavilions from Germany, the U.K., Brazil, Italy, and Japan were on display, but not all offered cabinet firms. For those concerned about the trend of declining North American cabinet exhibitors, there were some returning companies, such as Plain & Fancy, joining stalwarts such as Wellborn Cabinet, DeWils Industries, and Fabuwood, which is now combining internationally sourced components with a major assembly and custom manufacturing facility in New Jersey.

Bold Textures and Colors

While Frank Lloyd Wright and timeless woodgrains may have held the spotlight, wood was not the only inspirational design idea we discovered at KBIS. In fact, one of the most spectacular design elements from the show was the unique stone surfaces. From Kohler’s textured soaker tub to Native Trails Positano sink basins the options are as limitless as your imagination.

Galerie made note of the fact that many manufacturers are embracing sustainability in their design choices.

Manufacturers are also going the extra mile in pursuit of sustainable innovations that promise to set benchmarks for the next generation of solid surfacing. Cosentino previewed Inlayr Design Technology, an evolution that will create an entirely new product category in mineral surfaces. The breakthrough delivers hyper-realistic design by blending robotization, up to 90 percent recycled content, and next-generation surface decoration techniques like gradient effects and deep veining with rich colors embedded directly onto the material. Caesarstone also launched Caesarstone Icon, an advanced fusion surface completely free of crystalline silica and made with up to 80 percent recycled materials. The technology not only addresses the health risks of working with crystalline silica for stoneworkers and fabricators, but also reveals a translucency and depth of design that reflects natural elements in a distinctive way.
