These clients desperately wanted to transform their primary bath into a spacious, spa-like retreat.
Challenge
Renovating a waterfront house is all about enhancing lifestyle and the views,And that was our challenge with this 85 year old home that was last renovated 20 years ago. In a short six month timeframe, we needed to:
- Maintain the 1937 home’s original details while updating finishes
- Save the elements of the fireplace wall while gutting everything surrounding it, while marrying the renovated looks to this remaining structure
- Add in full views of the lake from the kitchen, dining and living rooms
- Create a temperature controlled wine room, a walk-in pantry and address the unwelcoming laundry space
Solution
To make the homeowners’ dreams come true, we needed to create an addition for the kitchen allowing major space reconfiguration. The new kitchen includes luxuriously warm wood cabinetry with a stainless steel hood and graciously curved island that gives ample seating, accented by a waterfall counter. A large walk-in pantry was added and we moved the laundry upstairs, fully decking it out with elegant cabinetry and countertop. The unfinished basement was reconfigured to create a stunning temperature-controlled wine room awash with accent lighting. Finally, we upgraded and expanded the windows and the doors in the home, including a large glass door in the living room that leads out to the pool area.
Result
Our homeowners are thrilled with all of their new and updated spaces and can now enjoy taking in their views of the lake from nearly every room in the house.
