bathrooms
A New Twist on a Classic Look
These Bridle Trails homeowners purchased their home in 2020 and immediately wanted to remodel the outdated and impractical primary bath complete with builder-grade materials and carpet.
Challenge
- House built in 1993, bathroom outdated
- Clients and children have asthma, requiring hard surfaces
- Room has odd angles and very small shower
- Grid pattern tile and inexpensive builder-grade finishes
- Outdated and damaged cabinetry
- Soaking tub in bay window with carpeted steps
- Limited storage in bathroom
- Squeaky floor indicating damage
Solution
- Rearranged floorplan for aesthetic and functional daily use
- Reframed space from hall closet to create linen closet in bathroom
- Replaced bulky tub with freestanding and elegant tub and filler
- Maximized storage with carefully selected cabinetry, including U-shaped drawers under sink
- Enlarged shower
- Moved sinks to one side improving function and storage
- Installed quality heated towel warmer from Ico
- Replaced outdated fixtures with selections from Baril, Kohler, and Hansgrohe
- Removed floor squeaks reinforcing floor joists and replacing subflooring
- Installing a warm shade of wood-look tile to fulfill client request for hard surface flooring
Result
With heated floors, beautiful trough sink, and some final improvements, including an enlarged shower, increased storage, towel warmers and blush-colored walls, this primary bathroom is now both practical for daily use and has the feel of a spa-like sanctuary.
