Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about working with Nip Tuck Remodeling.
Planning & Budget
How do you make sure my project stays on time and on budget?
The secret is in the planning. Before construction begins, we define every detail—floor plans, finishes, and costs—so there are no surprises later. Once the design is complete, we present a fixed-price contract and a detailed timeline so you know exactly what to expect.
“A 14-week gut remodel had a detailed project schedule that was accurate TO THE DAY. No cost overruns, and the job was completed on schedule.”
How detailed is the scope of work you provide?
Our scopes are extremely comprehensive—typically anywhere from 10 to 20 pages long. They clearly outline what is happening in each and every room: what needs to be protected, saved, supplied, and installed, along with how the work will progress.
“The detailed scope gave us peace of mind. We always knew what was included, what wasn’t, and what to expect in every space of our home.”
How do you develop a budget I can trust?
Our budgets are not rough estimates — they’re carefully built, line by line, to reflect the reality of your remodel. Once your design and scope are complete, we price every element: structural changes, cabinetry, countertops, lighting, flooring, and finishes.
“No cost overruns, and the job was completed on schedule. The clarity of the budget gave us so much peace of mind.”
How long will my remodel take?
It depends on the size and scope of your project. Every remodel is unique, but here are some typical ranges:
- Kitchen & Main Floor: about 3 months
- Primary Bathroom: 8–10 weeks
- Primary + Secondary Bathroom: 10–12 weeks
- Hall Bathroom: 4–5 weeks
- Whole-Home: 6+ months
“Our 14-week remodel finished exactly on time. The schedule was accurate to the day, which was amazing.”
Do you include contingency plans in your projects?
Most contractors tell you to add 5–15% for contingencies. At Nip Tuck, our detailed scopes and planning mean that level of uncertainty isn’t necessary. Our projects typically hold to within 2% of the estimate.
“We were amazed at how accurate Nip Tuck’s estimate was. Other contractors told us to expect 10% or more in overages, but Nip Tuck held the line.”
How do you handle change orders?
Change orders happen in remodeling, but how they’re managed matters. We discuss it right away, prepare a written change order, and get your decision before moving forward. Change orders are processed and paid for as they happen.
“We appreciated how straightforward the change order process was — no surprises, no confusion, just clear communication and quick resolution.”
How do you help me make informed choices during the process?
We guide and educate you through every step. With the scope and budget as your roadmap, you’ll understand the impact of each decision. We explain trade-offs, take you to showrooms, and break decisions into manageable steps.
“We always felt educated about our options and never pressured. Nip Tuck broke everything down so we could make decisions with confidence.”
Design & Visualization
What is your design process like?
Our design process is thoughtful, collaborative, and intentional. A typical design phase lasts about three months. We begin with the floor plan, move into structural requirements, then finishes. By starting with flow and functionality, we ensure your remodel is both beautiful and livable.
“They kept original 1968 design pieces and tastefully integrated them, illustrating creativity tied to our values.”
How will I visualize the design before construction starts?
We use detailed drawings, layouts, and 3D modeling so you can see your future space from every angle. When paired with physical samples—countertops, cabinets, flooring—you’ll have a complete picture you can touch, see, and get excited about.
How do you make sure my space flows naturally?
Flow isn’t just about open walkways—it’s about how a home feels. We design with the entire house in mind, honoring your home’s architecture so the inside and outside speak the same design language.
Do you follow design trends or focus on timeless design?
We keep up with trends but don’t chase them. Our focus is on timeless, crafted design that reflects your lifestyle. Our Uniquely Yours philosophy creates homes that feel natural, personal, and enduring.
“Our kitchen still makes us smile every morning. They truly captured our vision.”
How do you help me choose products and finishes?
We never send you into a showroom alone. We accompany you, explain options, and curate them down to a few that truly fit your style, lifestyle, and home.
Will you educate me on pros and cons of materials?
Yes. From countertops to flooring, we explain durability, maintenance, and performance. It’s not just about how something looks today, but how it will live with you for years.
What if I feel overwhelmed by all the choices?
Many clients fear decision fatigue. We listen to how you feel during the process and guide you with empathy. By narrowing options, we help you move past overwhelm to excitement.
Can you provide furniture and window coverings?
Yes. We can curate furnishings, window treatments, and accessories that complete the look. Planning these during design creates spaces that feel even more cohesive.
“They thought of everything — even helping us with furnishings so the space felt complete the day we moved back in.”
Communication & Trust
What kind of communication can I expect?
We adapt to your communication style—text, phone, or email. Your project manager is on site daily and contacts you several times per week. We schedule weekly Friday meetings so you never go into a weekend uncertain.
“We felt involved in the process and no decision was made without contacting us first.”
How do you handle surprises or unexpected challenges?
Nobody likes surprises during renovation. Our planning avoids them, but when the unexpected arises, we respond quickly with solutions and keep you fully informed.
“There were setbacks… Brian consistently found ways to stay on time. When our sink arrived cracked, Nip Tuck resolved it immediately.”
Living Through a Remodel
Will I be able to live in my home during a remodel?
It depends. For whole-home renovations, moving out temporarily is often best. For room-specific remodels, we can phase the project with dust barriers so you can stay.
“We were able to live at home for over half of the remodel… they worked around our large family and respected our privacy.”
How do I do laundry and cook during a remodel?
We help you figure out what works best. Families often set up temporary machines in garages, repurpose rooms with microwaves and mini fridges, or use outdoor grills and slow cookers.
Do I have to let people into my home?
No—we manage access with a lockbox or garage code. Our project managers and carpenters greet all trade partners on-site, ensuring your home is supervised and secure.
What hours do you work?
Typical hours are 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. We can adjust based on your needs but 8:00 a.m. is generally the latest we’ll begin.
How do you protect my home during construction?
We use dust barriers, floor protection, and daily cleanup. Our crews are mindful of routines, respectful of children and pets, and minimize disruption.
“They protected our living space and cleaned up after each day… and even got along well with our two dogs!”
Craftsmanship & Team
Who will be working in my home?
Your project will be delivered by our carpenters and project managers, plus trusted trade partners we’ve worked with for years. Only vetted people we know and trust will be in your home.
“Each member was friendly, upbeat, and talented. The tiler even created a custom pattern that set a new standard.”
How do you ensure the remodel reflects my vision?
We craft the entire project around your vision. Every detail is chosen deliberately so the finished product feels like it was always meant to be part of your home.
“Our kitchen still makes us smile every morning. They truly captured our vision.”
How do you handle quality control?
Our job is to find issues before you do. We constantly review and refine so most corrections are addressed before the end. We anticipate challenging details early and solve them before they reach the field.
“The attention to detail was remarkable — they found and fixed things before we even noticed them. It made the process stress-free.”
Schedules & Transparency
How accurate is the schedule you provide?
Our schedules are deliberately built, not guessed. They’re detailed and transparent, showing exactly when crews will be on site and when milestones will be completed.
Will I know what’s happening on site each day?
Yes. Between the live project calendar and regular updates, you’ll always know what’s happening today, tomorrow, and in the weeks ahead.
Aftercare & Reputation
What happens after the remodel is complete?
We complete a final walkthrough, address finishing touches, and check back to ensure everything meets expectations. We build with integrity—not just what you see, but what’s behind the walls.
“Follow-up after project construction was outstanding. Years later, everything is still as lovely as the day of installation.”
What makes Nip Tuck different?
We craft the entire experience, not just the craftsmanship. Our team wakes up every day with one purpose: to bring people’s dreams to life. As a woman-owned company, we bring heightened sensitivity to the emotions of remodeling and commitment to advocacy and guidance.
“Head and shoulders above everyone else… attention to detail, communication and quality are second to none.”
Do you offer a warranty on your work?
Yes. Every remodel is backed by a written warranty covering workmanship and materials. Our commitment doesn’t end when construction wraps—if something isn’t right, we’ll make it right.
Trends & Inspirations
What Are the Latest Trends in Kitchen/Bathroom Remodeling?
Trends come and go. One of our philosophies is to design a timeless space that’s fits your specific needs. So we find ways to use trends and colors without doing it in a way that the most built-in expensive pieces of your remodel are a passing trend.
How Do I Find Design Inspiration for My Remodel?
You can get inspiration from anywhere – Pinterest, magazines, things you’ve seen at a friend’s house. Our favorite place to go for inspiration is Houzz. You can create an idea book in Houzz where you can gather some of your favorite design ideas and features.
But don’t worry! If even the idea of having inspiration is overwhelming, you’re in good hands. Our designers will help you every step of the way, from thinking about why you want to remodel to how you want to feel in your house.

Additional Frequently Asked Questions
How Long Will My Home Renovation Project Take?
Our average project, which usually encompasses the entire main floor of your home, will take, on average, four to six months. A primary bathroom remodeling project will easily take two-and-a-half to three months. A hall bathroom will take six to eight weeks. A kitchen remodel will pretty reliably take three months to do. Of course, it all depends on the scope of your project, whether we have to complete the project in phases (for example, if we’re remodeling all of your bathrooms but you’re remaining in the house while we work, we have to leave one bathroom for you to use as we work).
If we’re doing a whole-house remodel, it will also need to be done in phases so that as we complete the work in one area, you can move out of the area we need to do next. In some cases, to help speed up the project, a client may opt to move out of the home while we’re working, but that’s not always feasible. If you’re going to live in the house, then that means only one floor or section of your house should be touched so that you can still comfortably live in your home.
What are the Benefits of Hiring a Design-Build Remodeling Firm?
Design-build firms can be beneficial to homeowners who want to work with one point of contact, because the team is all under one roof. From start to finish, we are consistently on the same page regarding your project, ensuring that the cost is accurately calculated before the work starts.
A design-build firm helps eliminate the surprises that can occur during a more traditional approach.
