Third Generation Legacy Home Luxury Update

As part of a major full home renovation, this dated and worn Clyde Hill primary bathroom was ready to be updated to improve water and power efficiency, and to create a tucked-away spa to sneak away from the lively family.

Challenge

This Clyde Hill primary bathroom was dated!  It was amazingly dark even though there were 22 lightbulbs. Cloaked in a Rosso natural stone, Nero marble, and then trimmed with very large gold tone fixtures shaped like swans it was the antithesis of the clients vision.

The clients had a list of big hopes:

To make this vision come to life, we needed to repair/update unpermitted remodel attempts from previous generations as well as  Structural engineering to  ensure remodeling plans were verified.

Solution

This project required that we completely removed everything down to the framing. Then, a large skylight was put in complimented the light color palette and midcentury feel.

With the bath, shower, and platform removed, a new makeup space was created, including a new window to provide additional light.  A beautiful heated-tile floor replaced the carpet and was designed with a unique herringbone pattern for an extra custom touch.  The floor flowed seamlessly into the curbless shower made for two with recessed niches and a bench for practical use.

The toilet room was updated with an efficient toilet, energy efficient window, and a small toilet paper niche built into the wall for a practical, yet clean look.

Custom cabinetry was designed to be a large, floating vanity with lighting underneath as an additional layer in creating a clean and bright space.  Additional storage above the counter was added as well as gently backlit LED mirrors.
