This master bath, designed by Roshele Allison of NW Home Designers exudes tranquility from the moment you enter the space. Creamy paint, a cozy heated floor and a sculpted tile feature wall greet you warmly, inviting you in. Every inch of the room has purpose and has been thoughtfully planned out to meet our client’s wishes. The entire project reconfigured the master suite and created a new walk in closet by re-purposing one of the existing spare bedrooms.
Goals & Objectives:
• Re-purpose existing bedrooms to redesign the master bedroom and create a walk in closet.
• Create an open & airy space for His & Hers vanity areas
• A jacuzzi tub for her with a large walk in shower for him
• Private water closet
• Add effective storage
The footprint of the existing bathroom was changed dramatically by removing the bulky closet within the bathroom as well as an in wall closet within the master bedroom. Square footage was added both by stealing about a foot from the master bedroom as well as incorporating the old closet into the bathroom. The layout of the bathroom was then re-configured to move the toilet creating room for a spacious tub/shower room at the room situated behind full height glass doors.
His & Hers vanity areas were designed to maximize the available space. Hers included a full height linen for storage which included outlets with a charging station, an ample vanity area with two sets of drawers, a tall recessed med cabinet with a 180 degree hinge & double sided mirror. His was designed on a smaller scale with center sink and drawers flanking each side. We increased his useable vanity area by incorporating it right into the shower. The quartz waterfalls perfectly down to the tiled shower curb and on the shower side of the vanity. A recessed niche with 2 compartments and created a ledge within the shower with the placement of the glass on the vanity.
Incorporating the jacuzzi tub was a special challenge as it was a must have for her and was in direct conflict with his need for a spacious walk in shower. After several iterations, we settled on the design to house both the tub & the shower behind the glass and we created a hidden access panel for the tub motor on the face of the tub, using Wedi board and Mapaei silicone caulk in the grout line. The access is easily accessible if need be by using a simple box cutter on the far right full tile grout line and we’ve left instructions on the matching caulk & who to call to re-install the door if/when the time comes (it is also accessible via an access in the crawl space)
Our clients had recently purchased this Sammamish rambler and making significant change to the master suite was top on the list. They now have a beautiful suite that flows naturally with the home and provides them the retreat they had been envisioning
