We were retained to transform this Blue Ridge kitchen from a cramped, sad little kitchen in the back of the house to a beautiful, very useable kitchen. Our clients had just purchased the home and were ready to bring the kitchen up to modern standards with Cherry cabinetry, stone countertops, full height backsplash and under cabinet lighting.
Our objectives with this kitchen:
Delete the strange rounded peninsula and storage zone near the window
Reconfigure the cooking area and fridge location
Incorporate a pantry & island
Built in seating to enjoy the water view
Open up the entry to the kitchen
We completely re-designed the space to incorporate the requested seating at the window and built the benches with additional storage. The range and refrigerator changed places and opening the space allowed for a small island in the center. A small change, but huge in it’s impact was widening the opening to the kitchen and adding two large pass through openings. This allowed the kitchen to have a full view into the living & dining room and now it feels part of the house instead of tucked away in the back.
This kitchen incorporated an induction cooking surface on the range which our clients tell us is amazing! We also chose to use a LVT (Luxury Vinyl Tile) for the floor because of it’s durability, it’s look and that it is a very budget friendly product.
