Entering this master bath is an escape into a Sedona desert retreat, or so you might think….gone are the traditional white doors, the columns flanking the seldom used soaking tub and the cramped shower in the corner.
As you enter this space from the large master bedroom, you will pass through a pair of Mahogany French doors w/ baroque glass hung on a rustic copper sliding barn door track and be immediately welcomed by the rich tones of wood, Hughes of deep brown and reds and textures to please the eye and touch. This master bath has been completely reconfigured to better utilize every inch of space and allow the inhabitant to feel pampered throughout.
In the design process, we quickly came to the conclusion that moving the toilet to the opposite side of the room would allow us to better utilize the space and though the footprint did not grow, the bathroom certainly feels as if it did. The result of moving the toilet allowed us to enlarge the walk in closet by an additional foot and design a vanity that incorporated two sinks with much more storage and plenty of elbow room. We deleted the huge tub area, reworked the soffits and created a custom shower complete with a Kohler rain shower in the ceiling, two hand showers and a fixed shower head. The shower incorporates a linear drain and is tiled floor to ceiling with Persian Red travertine. The 1/2″ starfire glass shower doors installed to the ceiling finish off the shower. Because the window was in the middle of the shower, we replaced it with rain glass and a remote operated shade installed on the exterior for added privacy.
All three doorways are outfitted with mahogany barn doors and the heated tile floor is trimmed out with custom mahogany base molding to match the painted base in the master suite. Our client desired an unusual surface for the countertop and as our search for the perfect stone evolved, we chose to commission a custom concrete countertop with a chilled edge which would complement the hammered copper vessel sinks.
