Clyde Hill Double Island Kitchen Remodel

Two Islands are Better than One

These clients desperately wanted to transform their primary bath into a spacious, spa-like retreat.

Challenge

Our Clyde Hill homeowners were tired of their limited floor plan. It lacked counter space and felt cramped and dated. Instead, they hoped for a grand kitchen that suitably matched the rest of the home. To deliver them their dream kitchen we needed to:

Find a way to connect the kitchen to the family and dining rooms

Add in wallspace to accommodate their desire to keep cooking and appliances off of their new islands

Design two islands that flowed together while serving different purposes – one a “working” island and the other a “party” island for entertaining

Solution

We met these goals by first removing the fireplace which blocked the living room from the kitchen. We changed the floorplan to create more perimeter space for appliances, a walk-in pantry, and the two distinct islands. Custom cabinetry allowed for high-quality components, such as open shelving, a pull-out coffee bar and a pull-out knife storage drawer. To overcome height differences in the ceiling, our team needed to craft some creative finish carpentry to hide these issues.

The custom inset cabinets have a mix of colors and incorporate solid walnut drawers in the blue working island and walnut shelving in the pantry. Premium knobs and pulls in  brushed brass accented the white cabinets and Quartz countertop with waterfall sides. Finally, the paneled ‘party island’ continues the luxury custom look to the entertaining space.

Result

Now our clients enjoy a grand space that’s both functional for everyday life and accommodating for even their largest group of guests. If you want to bring a bit of grandeur to your home, we have the design ideas and the craftsmanship to bring your dreams to life.
